He sometimes had recipes that 'fortified' it - one recipe called for ~1L of scotch, and rather than measure out part of a 750mL bottle, he just poured all 1.5L into the mix. The resulting alcohol content was conservatively estimated at ~26%. That stuff was positively amazing!

I haven't had mead in a very long time. Man I wish I had my brewing supplies with me right now. I do think I'll have to try my hand at mead.

You know, I was going to buy a bottle of that once upon a time, but I think went with a high volume IPA instead. I still have yet to try a mead.
